Do you remember the first time you set your first goal? What was it all about? Did you achieve the goal? how did you feel? Life can be a complicated journey, ain’t it? Chances are most of us can’t answer these questions. We have lived our whole lives setting goals knowingly and sometimes unknowingly. What only separates us is the size of our goals and our interests. Elon Musk has a goal to go to Mars, that is moulded by his interests you can not expect Bill Gates to have similar goals because they are two different human beings. In as much as everyone sets goals below are some tips that you can consider when doing so.
🔗They don’t have to be smart goals.
There is a theory that people suggest and that is goals have to be SMART i.e. specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-bound. Yes, this works and I m not against it. But the tip I want to share with you is that there are some goals out there that do not meet the SMART criteria yet they are important. for instance, you can set a goal to relax, talk less and love more. How can you measure that you now love more or that you now talk less? there might be a way I don’t know of yet but as far as I know, there is no such thing.
🤏Break your goal into small actionable habits
The single most important thing when it comes to attaining one’s goals zeros down to habits the individual builds around that goal. Habits are unique, they are small activities we do continuously over time. What I have leant about them is that they are the ones that separate the successful from the unsuccessful, we all have 24hrs but rather we have different habits.
❤Loveable
When you set goals it is very important to do a very honest self-introspection. Goals have to be aligned to one’s interests. It is easy to chase goals that excite you usually because you require less energy to do so. if you are doing something you like and love you look forward to it no matter what. it is also even easy to pick yourself up when you hit a wall. Chasing enjoyable goals you would have done half the work.
Conclusion
Goals are uniquely specific to an individual that is why we are chasing different goals and usually how we set them differs too. Keep learning how to set them and take it a step further and learn how to achieve them to progress in life.
