Web browsers have been around for a long time now. some have failed and some have grown it to giant successes. The number one crime in browser history definitely has to be downloading Google Chrome with Internet Explorer, one of the funniest things and habits. I guess it truly reflects how good Google Chrome had become over the years. I doubt that no browser better appealed to the market than Google Chrome however, I guess now that is about to change since there is a new kid in town and that kid knows how to make a statement. Some may say he a clone went wrong or a copycat I don’t know but I like him and here is why I like and use Microsoft Edge.
🆕 A new browser for a change, design-based.
firstly, I like customization a lot. Be it customizing my laptop or phone changing icons wallpapers etc. There is some joy in having a new look time and again. Because of this trait, I believe it played a huge role in me switching to Microsoft Edge. I have been a huge fan of Google chrome for a very long time, though there is a lot of customization that can happen in the browser from the extensions themselves however the new design of Microsoft edge caught me unaware and won me over. I m not saying Chrome design is bad but I needed the change and Edge offered it.

⭕ Extensions.
like I said before I used chrome extensions, they may be the reason I didn’t prefer any other browser just because I would lose the benefit they offered. Extensions are a good value for the Google Chrome browser. They are a lot of health extensions to complement the browser which proved to work well for google. Now the interesting and exciting thing is that Microsoft edge is built using the same Chromium project that is used to develop Google Chrome which means that All chrome extensions can be used on Microsoft Edge. That was great news now I can try this new browser without losing my extensions, how cool was that?
💤 Sleeping tabs and grouping tabs
One thing I realized when I started using Microsoft Edge was the way it greyed out unused tabs. Yeah, Microsoft Edge put tabs that have not been in use for a while to sleep. I like the innovation it makes sense and serves my computer resources. It also acts as an indicator to me of which tabs that I might consider closing. When I see a lot of greyed tabs maybe I should consider closing them if I no longer need them.
When I first heard of the goodness of Microsoft Edge one of the topics was on grouping tabs. To be honest I didn’t use this feature in Google Chrome I didn’t even know about it. I m a researcher so more than once I found myself having to open too many tabs on a topic then needed to open other tabs for a semi-similar topic. What I used to do is I opened different windows of Chrome and have similar tabs one window now the grouping is a game changer I can just group tabs as I work less hustle and less stress also it became easier to manage. However, even chrome has the same feature well I m liking the Microsoft Edge one better.

💻 Light on the computer
Now, these days it matters to save as many resources as I can on my laptop. Choosing between a browser that uses fewer resources over the one that uses more resources is easy everyone will go with the one that uses less for the same tasks. Now that is the other reason I made the switch to Microsoft Edge. The fact that it uses less than Google Chrome is attractive though it might not make much of a difference. in the long run, I believe it is better so why not. There is enough evidence all over the internet that proves so hence I m not going to try and reinvent the wheel here.
Conclusion
These are my reason for the switch, who knows maybe soon I might be going back to Chrome, will I? Well, the tech world if ever-changing something new will always be there but I guess the browser wars are going to be more interesting for those of us who like new innovative things time and again, after all, competition is healthy if it’s not personal.
