Windows Vs Android: Productivity and Relaxation

The tech world has given some of the most fascinating gadgets over the past years. I have been using a Samsung Tab s6 lite for a while now, at the time of this post it’s now close to three years as a side gadget to my Windows laptop and for about 6 months now I have upgraded my laptop to an HP elite book 2 in 1 laptop. In this post, I’m going to share my experience of the two and the best use-case scenario for each gadget. The hope is that if you are considering buying either of the two this will be a guide on which one is the best for you and your situation.

There are two situations we can use to distinguish these gadgets and I believe they can be yardstick which we can use to make your buying choice. That is are a Productivity biased consumer or relaxation biased consumer. Let’s be honest your intent to use these gadgets is going to influence your decision. here is what it is like in each scenario.

💪Productivity

I have a formal job that demands me to work with various stakeholders through email and various formal documents from budgets, invoices and proposals. One thing I have learned from my experiences is that the Windows operating system and its arsenal of applications are second to none. The Mac OS is not included for reasons of having limited information about the OS. Almost every application has a Windows and an Android version but for some reason, it’s always a thing with most productivity applications that the Windows application is more fully fledged than the Android version. This then leads to a scenario of you feeling limited when you are using the application on Android. This leaves us with one reality deep work of any kind can only be done on a Windows. Complex Spreadsheets are done in Windows Excel, and Complex Photo Manipulation is done in Adobe Photoshop on Windows.

🪶Relaxation

After a good day’s work, there are times you need to relax and just scroll through stuff. Be it watching YouTube, reading the news or watching a bit of movies – in this case, your mood is a bit relaxed. I have seen that the experience is better on Android hands down the navigation is just intuitive for a relaxed mind. Another thing to note is the widgets experience that is better on Android. They amplify the whole experience and look.

In this relaxed mood, you may need to do some light work like checking your mail here and there or maybe google something for reading trust me the Android system is good at that and this does not take away the power Android has.

🎯Choose your pick

The two systems are unique in their own way, yet powerful. As I said your ultimate use case scenario will determine which is the ultimate gadget for you. If you are looking for something portable, slick and can handle your work life in a way go for the Windows-powered gadgets you won’t regret it. But, if you looking for a media gadget for use in a not so much power-demanding way I recommend the Android gadgets. This depends on the kind of work you do. If your work is light and doesn’t demand a lot of power you might be surprised that an Android tablet can handle it. After all, I have walked into offices where someone operates entirely from their phone. surely an Android tablet is best for their productivity.

Take my flow for instance – sometimes I draft my posts on my tablet in Notion, when I’m posting I switch over to the Windows system and post. Well for apps like Notion there isn’t really much of a difference between Android and Windows but well Windows is better for some reason. However, for apps like Word Excel and Photoshop – Windows is way better. As for watching YouTube, movies and even reading/studying and taking annotated notes my Android system has impressed me beyond the average. So choose your pick and make life easy after all.
